Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dictd

I have been trying to set up dictd for using locally stored
dictionaries, and for some reason dictd always fails to start.

When I I run './dictd start' in /etc/init.d, I get the following error:

 * Starting dictionary server dictd
:E: cannot open pid file '/var/run/dictd.pid'
:E:    err msg: Permission denied
dictd (pid_file_create): :E: terminating due to errors. See log file
:E: terminating due to errors. See log file

According to Synaptic, I have dictd version 1.10.11 installed. I am
running Intrepid; other than that I don't know what else to tell you.

Hope someone can help.
