Add ons source is addons.mozilla.org (where I had unsuccessfully attempted to install the spellcheck dictionary.) I have frequently been starting it from the command line to be able to see any error messages but have frankly been unable to duplicate the problem for quite some time now. The only addon I have installed is the modern theme (I had read on a web page where someone else had this problem of the spontaneous close and the new theme seemed to have helpted.) I have had the problem since I installed the new theme, but again not for quite some time. This is puzzling. I will try to remember to launch from command line and report back as soon as it happens again.
