I can see that when i use a PDF where the "/Rotation 270" tag is used to rotate a landscape doc on portrait paper, which is conforms the standard. I use the lpr command line to send the file, to avoid any influence from Adobe Reader or KPDF. Cups does not handle this correct. Debian lenny works with a 1.3.8 version that works correctly, maybe someone should look at these patches and port this to ubuntu? I can confirm this bug for ubuntu 8.10 with cups 1.3.9. I suspect this is a cups bug introduced with 1.3 series where a new pdf filter.
