Even as much as I love open source, I could not help but notice that
Ubuntu's menu system is much slower than Windows. I'm not talking about
getting used to it either. Let me explain. In Window's, all menus are
designed with faster shortcuts using your keyboard. Let me explain. If
you press Alt-F1, it will bring up your Main Menu at the Linux Desktop.
However, unlike Windows, you are forced to use your mouse or press the
arrow buttons a un-needed amount of times. If Ubuntu wants to be quick
for the keyboarder then why not make it where after you have pressed
Alt-F1, you just have to press the first letter of the next menu folder
to open it up. Example: "A" for "Applications", "P" for Places and the
like. That's exactly what Windows does with all of it's menus. It's a
universal principle that you find in almost every program including Open
Office, Fire Fox, Microsoft Office, and almost every thing I've seen on
the market except Linux. I believe this would make a far better
operating system.
