Public bug reported:
When changing the brightness levels in Ubuntu 8.10, the portion of the
screen corresponding to the popup of the brightness level gets stuck in
the screen, masking what is underneath it. This only happens when
changing the brightness level after replugging the power supply in the
laptop that was running on battery, and gnome-power-manager updating the
plugged state.
