Forcing the user to start over (rather than finish what they're doing) isn't exactly user-friendly. When a full system restart is required, the entire system doesn't immediately cease to function. The user can put off those restarts. Why can't the user put off restarting Firefox in the same way? I select print page, the program puts a preparing dialog box, and nothing happens. (except the program darkens out after about 9 seconds). Tried multiple times, did not work printing to *.pdf either.
