Using Kubuntu 8.10, i386 architecture, I can confirm the bug. This has happened to me twice while attempting to write and subsequently verify a DVD data disk.
After canceling the verification the burned DVD won't mount in the DVD drive, and testing the DVD on a Windows box confirms the DVD isn't burned correctly. (this could be a separate bug).
