** Description changed: Testing install of R.C. of Ubuntu 8.10 64 Bit. System Details: Dell Precision T7400, with Quad Core processor, standard dell-supplied NVidia card, 8 Gig of RAM, and 2 x SATA 160GB drives. Using standard BIOS settings, no modifications made. On booting the CD, I chose to "verify image". No problems. When I choose "Install", I am presented with the new Ibex backdrop and a cross-hair mouse pointer. Nothing happens after 20 minutes... The system does not appear to be "locked", i.e. the caps lock is responsive, but the CD stops spinning and nothing happens. + + -- Update -- + + GFX card was plugged into 2 monitors, to enable dual displays. Removing + the second monitor and then re-installing the O/S worked, so the problem + was caused by having 2 monitors attached.
