Please could you visit http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/
and report which version it says you have installed?

If you have version 9 or less, YouTube probably won't work due to
details in a discussion you may find helpful at:
http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/526305-hello-you-either-have-
javascript.html

Finally, could you run the following:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install apt-show-versions && apt-
show-versions -a adobe-flashplugin && apt-show-versions -a flashplugin-
nonfree

and paste just the last 6 lines back here.

It may also be that gnash is interfering, but I've never used the package.
