Thanks for getting back to me, Jayson. Since then I did a clean install of
8.10 Ibex, opting for 32-bit this time instead of 64- due to endless Flash
difficulties. And I reinstalled Thunderbird, with all troubles forgotten.
Whether it's the version change, the switch from 64-bit to 32-, or putting
the mail files on a disc that automounts this time, I'm not sure -- but all
is well.
