I 'm also having the KDE glitch but only when i have hi cpu load (i have
disabled desktop effects).

My /var/log/kdm.log is a bit different :

I have tried various options in xorg.conf but nothing changed. I also connected 
an external monitor.

The Xorg.0.log shows that the monitor wasn't detected but when I

and the monitor worked. Xorg.0.log displays:

I still don't know whats the cause for the false detection, its seems to
be completely random. I have no way to isolate the problem. If someone
has a suggestion about how to procced please tell me because i run out
of ideas.
