Public bug reported:
I have an HP 1020 LaserJet printer which never worked with either Ubuntu
7.10 nor 8.04 I tried accesing CUPS and it does not even recognize any
passwords (not even root password). The driver for HP 1020 does not
work, it is simply dead. I thought about letting the community know
about this bug. Having poor printer support can seriously stop Ubuntu
from entering into a more Office environment. No matter what solution I
tried, the HP 1020 never worked. If I ever found the solution, I would
update you with it. It is a shame, Ubuntu is great, but being unable to
print from it in part kept me on the M$ Windows side. :-\ Maybe should
keep a closer eye on the CUPS / Printer support for future releases of
Ubuntu. I heard it works great on Debian but never tried it myself.
