Thanks for your quick answer. I did an apt-get remove tdsodbc, followed by apt-get install tdsodbc this also returned /var/lib/odbc error, so i did a complete uninstall via dpkg --purge tdsodbc and reinstall apt-get install tdsodbc that worked.
