Set cups to debug: edit the file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
change the loglevel to debug, save, exit, then view the log sudo tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log then try and print from openoffice, and post the log. Posting to http://pastebin.com/ and post the link is suggested because the output will be rather long.
