** Description changed:

  Strange errors appear in dmesg after inserting a blank cd:

  Buffer I/O error on device sr1, logical block 0
  this message is repeated several times.

  I can't burn anything with the drive on either Intrepid comptuer I have
  tried this on (lenovo 3000 n100 laptop, attachments created here), or a
  Fujitsu-Siemens C610 desktop. Brasero, CD/DVD Creator, Gnome-Baker all
  fail.

  I have tried this on all kernels available for intrepid, currently
2.6.27-10-generic ->
  It used to work fine in previous versions of Ubuntu (starting with Gutsy)

  The DVD drive is not defective (tested in Other OSs and works [gutsy,
  windows]), also it can read from disks without any difficulty in
  Intrepid.
+
+ Note that this is a usb device.
