I can confirm that the finnish translations are improved by this change,
but only partially. In testing against archive.ubuntu.com, the rhythmbox
package had already had an update which had caught the updated
translation; the initial release version does get fixed by this.
The thoggen package has just a tiny bit of its description translated
with its update and also loses the formatting of the english text. The
before text looks like:
Description: DVD backup utility based on GStreamer and Gtk+
Thoggen is designed to be easy and straight-forward to use. It attempts
to hide the complexity many other transcoding tools expose and tries to
offer sensible defaults that work okay for most people most of the time.
Features:
* Easy to use, with a nice graphical user interface (GUI)
* Supports title preview, picture cropping, and picture resizing.
* Language Selection for audio track (no subtitle support yet though)
* Encodes into Ogg/Theora video
* Can encode from local directory with video DVD files
* Based on the GStreamer multimedia framework, which makes it fairly
easy to add additional encoding formats/codecs in future.
.

and the after text looks like:
Description-fi: DVD-varmuuskopiointiohjelma, joka perustuu GStreameriin ja
Gtk+:aan

The gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg translation looks good from the perspective of
someone who can't read Finnish at all.
ubuntu-restricted-extras appears to be entirely untranslated (yes, I've
got -proposed enabled for multiverse).
oggconvert appears only partially translated and also has a similar
format change as thoggen.
