Public bug reported:

With kernels 2.6.27-7 and up (currently I have 2.6.27-9) my laptop
doesn't shutdown properly anymore. If I try to turn it off, it freezes
during the last stages of the shutdown procedure and doesn't power off
(leaving the fans and the LCD backlight on). The last few system
messages I get are:

* Unmounting temporary filesystems...
* Deactivating swap...
* Unmounting local filesystems...
* Will now halt
halt: unable to iterate IDE devices: No such file or directory

I also noticed that my syslogs are full of ACPI error messages that I
didn't get with pre 2.6.27 kernels. Maybe that's an indication for
what's going wrong?
