Hi Daniel again, I am not sure. I have read of many people having still problems due to pulseaudio (audacity, flash, recording, skype, twinkle sooperlooper and so on). I am still thinking of switching back to alsa due to the much better audio performance, but didn't try so yet. Anyway I found some ways of temporarely fixing it in 8.04, partly via OSS, but still not with not satisfying results on skype and twinkle. Other sound is ok after doing the tricking. I still have about 40 to 60 hits per day from people with audioproblems in 8.04 in my blog, where I published the tricking HowTo. I have heard of similar problems in 8.10, but couldn't verify them, as I simply copied my complete personal folder with new installation from 8.04 to 8.10. It works slightly better, but still not good regarding skype and twinkle in comparison to windows. As I know now, these problems with pulseaudio were known in advance before release of 8.04 ... That was quite a pullback, to include pulseaudio anyway, before it is ready to do the things the people love it to do. I am sure you know. Here is where I published the tricking: http://nyuviu.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/ubuntu-804-soundprobleme-mit-audacity-pulseaudio-skype-twinkle-jack/ It made everything work, even in ubuntustudio, except bad phone-quality. But anyway: You are doing great work, I love Ubuntu, and only have to come back to windows for filmcuttting and for voice-to-text recording ( I know its on the way, but not still there). If you are interested: I could do some prerelease testing regarding usability to help avoid such unpleasant affaires in the future. Let me know qnd let me know how I can help.
