Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: e2fsprogs
When an application uses libuuid to create a UUID, the library launches
a daemon process called uuidd. This daemon is forked off the calling
application and thus inherits all open sockets, including those used by
my cool network server. The result is that if I quit my server, I have
to reboot the entire system to be able to launch it again since the
socket is kept open by uuidd and this process cannot be killed.
This was last seen on Ubuntu 8.10/amd64
** Affects: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
