Public bug reported:
Dell D620 laptop will not boot to desktop.
Installed ubuntu 8.04.01 on laptop
installed 2 updates:
openssl-blacklist
ssl-cert
rebooted pc
there are 79 updates after rebooting pc
i unchecked linux***** and python updates
unchecking python unchecks some openoffice updates
rebooted pc
i'm still able to boot to the desktop.
Currently I have installed 2.6.24.19.34 and 24.19.21 before applying the
security updates
if I apply the other updates and reboot, i would not be able to access the
desktop.
if I apply 2.6.24-22 and 2.6.24-19 and reboot
the following will occur
login screen appears
I login
I hear the ubuntu music
I see the ubuntu wallpaper and never can access the desktop
