Binary package hint: xorg

Ubuntu 8.10
xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu3
Monitor: Philips 32" LCD (doubles as our flatscreen television)

What happens:
* I change the screen resolution under 'System > Preferences > Screen
Resolution'.
* When I click 'Apply' the new resolution is applied
* If this new resolution is unusable there is no gui way back to try a
different setting.

What I expected:
* When I click 'Apply' there has always been a trial period during which I can
confirm the new resolution. If this period expired without the user confirming
then the previous resolution is re-applied. This was pretty much fool-proof.

Because this bug renders the computer unusable (some screens and monitor
setting just give me colorfull fuzz) to me this is potentially a
security bug depending on what the machine is being used for at the
time. Please delete this paragraph if this bug is rejected as security
related.

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
