Public bug reported:
I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard with an onboard Marvell 88E8001
Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
While doing some network sniffing with wireshark 1.0.2, I noted that a
significant number of packets were flagged as having an invalid checksum error.
All the erroneous packets originate at the Marvell 88E8001. Wireshark helpfully
suggests "maybe caused by "UDP checksum offload"?". I don't think I can turn
that on or off with the skge driver.
I am running Hardy Herron 8.04.1 with kernel 2.6.24-21-generic. I am
running an amd64 installation. I am using the skge driver.
I think this issue has been going on for some time (I vaguely recall
having seen the bad checksums before), but have not paid it much
attention until now. It doesn't seem to be causing me any trouble.
I haven't tested any older/newer kernels yet.
