Public bug reported:
hi,
i've got my kubuntu hardy fully updated with kernel 2.6.24-22-generic in
a single-core machine, 32 bits.
the thing is that i've used ubuntu for some time now and i never had
problems with my mouse or keyboard which talks to kubuntu through
bluetooth.
Right now, with hardy (and also intrepid) i'm unable to use the
keyboard, while the mouse works ok.
both mouse and keyboard are "advent" and i've tried with "concentronik"
and also "belkin" usb bluetooth on my computer.
The one i'm using right now show this:

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0a5c:200a Broadcom Corp. Bluetooth dongle
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

********
The issue is quite weird and hard to explain, let's hope i put it very
clear:
steps to reproduce this problem:
-i put my mouse on "visible mode"
-i press right button on bluetooth icon and say "add device"
-i find "new mouse", i add it, and i'm able to use it without any more trouble.
-kubunts asks me if i trust this device, i say "yes, always" and then i'm able
to use it whenever i want without any problem.
-i reboot the machine and i'm still able to use the bluetooth mouse after
pressing several times any of the buttons.. i guess this is normal behaviour...
but anyway... it's ok to me...
-also, for example, i've got ktorrent in .kde/Autostart and it starts without
problem and i can see its icon on the task bar (i'll explain later why this is
important)
now it comes where the problem starts:
-i put my keyboard on "visible mode"
-i press right button on bluetooth icon and say "add device"
-i find "new keyboard", i add it.
-kubuntu asks me to enter a "key" that i set up in my bluetooth device. It's a
simple keyboard, i guess it doesn't have this key (it used to work without any
problem before)... so... i press "empty key" and after a few seconds waiting
and pressing God knows how meny keys..... the keyboard seems to work.
-kubunts asks me if i trust this device, i say "yes, always"
-i reboot the machine to see if kubuntu still can find both devices....
-when kubuntu is back... i move the mouse... and it starts working.... i press
some keys on the keyboard but i won't work at all. even if i delete it from the
"trusted devices" and so on and i get back to set up the device... it won't
work...
-i also find then that the ktorrent icon is not there anymore, although
ktorrent seems to be working. Also, if i launch firefox, for example, i can't
see the "top bar" where the "X" to close the window is... so i have to go
"File->Exit" to exit firex. It looks like something is broken on kde when i use
my keyboard and things don't appear propperly on the desktop.
These are the logs i get from bluetooth, the seem normal to me, i can't
see any problem:

they look normal, don't they?
i've also looked through the Xorg.0.log and other log files to see if
there's some xorg-related problem... but i can't see any "error" or
"warn" line in them.
anyway... i would be very pleased if someone could help me on that as i
don't want to go back to dapper.
Just let me know if you need any further details.
Thanks.
