Same here! In addition, I get the same error when starting X via startx,
not using gdm or any other login manager! I'm using ion as window
manager. In Xorg.0.log I found the following error message:

I'm working on a ibm Thinkpad x31 with an ATI Radeon M6 (radeon driver).
Th error occured the first time after upgrading to Intrepid.
