Public bug reported:
I have just migrated from Hardy Heron to Intrepid Ibex. After reboot,
there was not sound, even the typical logon sound wasn't working.
Searching the web, I found out that it's possible to troubleshoot the
audio card setup by typing "aplay -l" at the shell.
It reported no audio cards so I believe that the new OS kernel does not
have support for the VIA 8235 embedded audio card, which is what I've
got here.
I solved the audio issue by picking the old kernel (namely
2.6.24-22-386) at bootup time (by typing ESC during GRUB startup).
