nvidia-settings and nvidia-xconfig are both included into the nvidia-glx
package.
According to the description of nvidia-settings values such as brightness and
gamma, XVideo attributes, temperature, and OpenGL settings can be queried and
configured via nvidia-settings.
If nvidia-settings doesn't display temperature values your video card doesn't
have the necessary sensors to report them.
