Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. A couple of notes for future
reference:
1) You can change typos in the title/description via the "Update
Description/Tags" link.
2) You set the bug status to "Incomplete" incorrectly, which has probably
stopped the people who should be looking at this bug from looking at it. I'm

Description:
I use svg graphics as my background on the desktop. Artifacts have appeared
on the desktop (and in the Gnome thumbnails) where I have selected an area with
the 'text tool'.
These artifacts are not be seen in inkscape, and cannot be selected or
deleted.
To replicated:
- Create an inkscape file on the desktop.
- - Use the test tool to select several areas. No text was entered.
+ - Use the text tool to select several areas. No text was entered.
- Save, and view Icon, or set svg graphic as desktop background image.
