I can confirm this bug is still in Intrepid amd64. I got bitten on upgrading from 8.04 last week. Advanced windowing actions didn't work anymore, jerky scrolling, extremely annoying staggered display redrawing while moving windows.
I've replayed Jeremy's workaround and it fixed the problem for me. I'm attaching before/after snapshots of my package status and xorg.conf, hope that helps pinning down the problem. As an additional note; probably unrelated: I've had a very similar- feeling bug on a completely different installation (8.10 i386) with a completely different binary driver (bcm43xx). In both cases Jockey seems to NOT be able to handle a transition from a Hardy to an Intrepid binary driver. It shows driver installed, not activated and it takes some deactivation to actually activate the correct driver... ** Attachment added: "before/after applying Jeremy's workaround" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20299762/fglrx.tgz -- fglrx works, but window moving/resizing and scrolling are very, very slow; desktop effects don't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284687 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
