Actually, I just saw my desktop running Jaunty do this, on 2.6.28-2-generic. The MythTV frontend froze, and so did my SSH session. I couldn't resolve the machines IP from its .local name, but it responded to pings to its IP address. After a couple minutes, everything unfroze.
