Hi stephanie, thanks for using Ubuntu and thanks for taking the time to
file this bug report! It sounds like you may be hitting a key
combination to toggle logging, under Options -> Enable Logging. Are you
sure you aren't holding in any sort of shift or alt key? Have you tried
restarting Pidgin or the machine?
If so do all other alphabetical keys work fine? Thanks!
