I just tried it, and this page printed-to-paper fine for me now, using Ubuntu 8.10 and firefox 3. It also printed fine to pdf or postscript, from firefox 3.
Splix uses Ghostscript in the process of processing the page for printing. I have a Samsung ML-2510, which system-config-printer detected automatically. Both Splix and Ghostscript (before it was gs version 8.61 and now it is version 8.63) have updated versions. Now when I print the page, the CUPS error log shows no issues. So the problem is not reproducible, and is likely resolved, at least for 8.10. -- Printing fails.
