The corrupted archive might come from a broken drive, faulty memory or network failure during transfer.
Your drive looks good since you're running Fedora without a glitch. If Ubuntu is running on another partition you can check it with fsck. Check your memory with the memtest86+ boot menu. If your network hardware looks good then check the configuration.
