** Description changed:
Binary package hint: kde
Release: Kubuntu 7.10
Kernel 2.6.22-14-generic
Platform: on a Dell intel x86_64 and an AMD x86_64
Video driver: occurs on native ubuntu nvidia driver AND nvidia's proprietary
driver (only tested on nvidia cards)
smplayer:
Installed: 0.5.20-0ubuntu1
Candidate: 0.5.20-0ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 0.5.20-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/multiverse Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Screen Saver Settings: none on both tested computers
Expectation: When "Enable Power Savings" is checked, and the monitor is
set to go off after a certain number of minus, the system does so until
a video is played in full screen mode. Smplayer from apt-get is used in
the tests, though other players like Kaffeine do the same. After a full
screen video playback, the monitor will not to into power save mode.
The only way to fix the problem is to re-apply the settings in system
settings, or do a complete system restart. Restarting X with ctrl-alt-
backspace or /etc/init.d/kdm restart does not fix the problem.
Editing xorg.conf with the lines
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "blank time" "5"
Option "standby time" "5"
Option "suspend time" "5"
Option "off time" "5"
EndSection
Does not help either.
I would appreciate even a command line fix that I can run every time
after a full screen session to restore the settings, instead of going
all the way into system settings to do so.
Much Appreciated!
update: dec 2008
apt-get upgrade on the open source driver still does nothing
-
- newest x64 proprietary driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-177.82-pkg2.run
- corrected the problem
