I had similar behavior happen to me on my laptop when using Acronis Disk Director 10 boot CD (which is linux based). If I don't select "Run Full Version" (which has more drivers), and I start trying to use my touchpad it will jump erratically and do random clicks. So this *might* be a driver issue more than anything else.
