The problem is that the SMTP at bugs.debian.org will not allow relaying to [EMAIL PROTECTED], which Ubuntu's reportbug uses.
If you have "smtphost bugs.debian.org" in your reportbugrc, you get hit by this bug. However, the default in Ubuntu is "fiordland.ubuntu.com" and this triggers just another bug: bug 123414 As far as I can see, this particular bug is fixed, although only by another not working default (fiordland) and/or using the newer 'bugs.debian.org' in case 'master.debian.org' is configured (but it fails the same way, not allowing to relay to ubuntu- [EMAIL PROTECTED] The problem here is, that bts=ubuntu does not work with Debian's SMTP server. I'm closing this as "Fix released", since it is (for bts=debian). I'm currently looking into disabling the use case "bts=ubuntu" in reportbug, while pointing the user at "ubuntu-bug". Please see bug 228183 about this (if you want to incline) and please file any other issues as separate bug reports.
