Hi As you said, my network is indeed very restrictive, but that doesn't stop the official client Yahoo! Messenger from working ok under Windows XP on this same computer. If communication over 5050 were required by the the Yahoo protocol, Yahoo! Messenger should be blocked too. To my this seems clearly a problem with Pidgin.
