[Bug 307067] [NEW] bottom of screen is black

Public bug reported:

when i boot and it comes to the log in page i can see the whole screen
but after log in i loose an inch and a half of screen. i can click on
every thing down there but i just cant see it. if i ctrl+alt+click i can
roll everything up and see what i couldnt see before but the black bar
across the screen remains. i have had this problem on 4 installs and
cant seem to find any help for this bug its very very annoying. this is
something that has just randomlly happened without me doing anything
before it happens.
