Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
The Power Manager Brightness Applet (2.24.0) reports the incorrect
brightness level on a Lenovo W500 laptop. I am using Ubuntu 8.10.
Adjusting the panel brightness with the slider on the applet results in
correct adjustment, but subsequently the applet icon displays a red
slashed circle error symbol in the middle of it. Hovering the mouse over
this shows the error message 'Cannot get laptop panel brightness'.
