Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex (Ubuntu 8.10) with 2.6.27-10-generic.

Description of the bug:
I am trying to burn DVD-R in Ubuntu with the several cd-writer programs and in
all of those the program recognizes the DVD drive, but not the DVD inside.

"1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem"
Just tryed to burn DVD-R, first tryed in Brasero, it didnt recognize the DVD-R
in the drive, then i tryed with K3b, Gnomebaker, Nero Linux, etc and in all of
those it gives the same error. I can burn DVDs in Windows (i have dual boot) so
is not drive malfunction, and before updating to ibex i could burn any DVD-R
with any program in ubuntu (usually i used Brasero or K3b), but when i tryed to
read those DVD-R burned in ubuntu in windows, windows reads them as blanks.

2. the behavior you expected, and
I expect to be able to burn DVD-R, and to read the contents in Ubuntu and
Windows plataforms.

3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
In Ibex, any DVD burning program just dont recognize the DVD in the drive, i
tryed with several programs.
The error message in any of those, use different words, but is always more or
less: "put another DVD-R, DVD+RW in the drive", i place other, and it doesnt
recognize it too"

Thanks in advance for any help
