Can you hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 then F3, etc until you see the console? You
should be able to see what the installer tried to do last. You should
even be able to pull up a shell prompt.
Also, could you please boot back into the old Linux installation that
still works and paste the output of the lspci and lsusb commands?
