trying to open synaptic repositories list, window briefly flashes on the
screen then disappears with message,
" /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/apt/__init__.py:17: FutureWarning: apt API
not stable yet
warnings.warn("apt API not stable yet", FutureWarning)
Error: could not find a distribution template"
also affects Main Menu->System->Administration->Software Sources
