Setting this back to new until someone can confirm it. I followed the
directions given to reproduce, but I can not seem to get xfwm4 to run
under gnome.
1. Installed Ubuntu 8.10 from the alternate CD
2. Installed all updates
3. Installed xfwm4
4. Ctrl+Alt+F2
1. Attempted to run xfwm4
2. Error: Another window manager is already running
3. Kill "metacity"
4. apt-get remove --purge metacity
5. Logout and login again
6. Ctrl+Alt+F2
1. sudo xfwm4 --display=:0
2. Can not tell if xfwm4 is running
7. Do not know how to tell xfwm4 to replace metacity, which is gnome desktop
default window manager
