** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-applets Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Today's updates included nm-applet and gnome-panel, I think; after restarting, I recognized that an extra icon had appeared in my Gnome panel (see the screenshot attached). It's funny, because it shows "Networking disabled" and it's even from a wrong iconset (I'm using Gion at the moment). Sorry if this is just my ignorance... ADDITION: I think the present setup should not even include NetworkManager Applet (v. 0.7.0), while its function is covered by gnome-netstatus-applet (2.12.2). Am I just missing something here? I cannot even remove networkmanager-applet because Synaptic does not find the package... So I'm a bit confused at the moment. + + ADDITION 2: The strange re-appearance of the NetworkManager-Applet into + the panel happened actually after an update of the following packages: + network-manager network-manager-gnome. + + Well, this is of course a very minor issue and I could remove the + unnecessary icon by removing the notification area where it appeared + from my top panel. It could have been due to some earlier mistake of + mine, too, I suppose, though I don't understand what caused the + reappearance of the nm-applet icon when the package should actually be + (and is) absent from my system.
