Finally, modifying the xorg.conf Virtual 2560 1024 to 2048 768 and
setting the monitors resolution to 1024x768 did allow compositing to
function, yay! However, the desktop was even more messed up than usual.
The screen shot does not really do it justice. The terminal shown as
spanning desktops showed up as entirely on the second desktop (one on
the right) and the left 1/4 of it also showed up on the left deskop.

Since it sorta kinda worked with the virtural resolution of 2048 does
that mean I'm out of luck for having two desktops at 1280x1024 with
compositing? The card just can't handle it (seems pretty lame)?
