Can you do a "ls -l /etc/X11/xorg.conf" and post the results? If the file 
really is empty, you can regenerate it with:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
But it seems strange that it got empty, especially since you attached the 
contents earlier. Maybe you can try to get some more hands-on help, for 
instance on IRC?
