My problem went away after removing Intrepid and installing Hardy, using the HPLIP Toolbox to install the firmware.
In Intrepid the printer is left in a bad state, and even the BIOS gets stuck for a few minutes during boot-up while trying to recognize the USB devices. I assume this is so because of bad firmware being sent to the printer. Indeed, turning the printer off for a while removes the BIOS problem until the first reboot --but of course this doesn't make the printer work. I could conceivably test the printer with Intrepid in the next few days. If someone can think of something to try out, please let me know. -- HP LJ 1018 regression in hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217215 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
