Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ifupdown
I have a t43p laptop, wifi device:
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection (rev 05)
package version is ii 0.6.8ubuntu1
dmesg looks like this:

Now, since about a couple of upgrades, ifupdown seems to have gone mad
completely:
ifup eth1 won't do anything, but appear to just turn power off for eth1 (the
wifi device).
Trying iwconfig power up on it will just have no effect what so ever.
Then only way to turn on the power for it again, would be to:
$ ifdown eth1
then the WiFi IBM light turn on, and then I need to manually dhclient
eth1 to get IP address again.
Now, this would have worked but now I the power on the wifi device just
goes off on it's on accord, and without no advance warning. Then the
mentioned above steps needs to be taken until wifi is working again, and
again, and again...
Let me know what else you need to debug this, thanks!
