I also get this problem. I have not yet tried to install it on my system, I will try this later and I will post back with more information. At the moment, after the splash screen I get a brown screen with a mouse cursor, then I hear the Ubuntu drums, then the screen blacks out leaving the cursor which goes into hourglass mode (or spinny- disk mode) for a few seconds then back to normal. At this point I cant do anything but move the cursor about the black screen. This is on 8.10 final release.
