As of today (20th Dec.), since updating the system with some kernel
stuff (Ubuntu asked me if I wanted to update, so I said yes as always).
First thing I noticed after restarting the system following to the
installation, was that I could not get online anymore. No matter how
many times I restart, the system somehow doesn't recognize the wlan card
anymore (Wireless-LED always dark, no wirless-network
activation/deactivation possible in the network manager)

I'm using a thinkpad t40p with its original IBM Dual-Band 11a/b Wi-Fi
Wireless Mini PCI Adapter

I'm writing these lines back on bad old winxp - which doesn't seem so
bad anymore after these recent updates. As Einar Petersen writes, it's
pretty discouraging if things that used to work just fine get broken
with automatic updates. After updating from Hardy Heron to Intrepid Ibex
my Notebook lost the ability to remember wether wlan/bluetooth should be
on or off. It's always on after rebooting/logging off an on again
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=563450) . And now, well, wlan
is not working anymore alltogether... sigh
