Hi, Thank you for reporting this question in launchpad. This post will be a valuable information for the rest of Ubuntu users.
xfonts-mplus is an X11 bitmap font. There has been quite a number of feedback in the forum that installing bitmap font requires more effort. But there is still a way to install this type of fonts: 1. Verify that xfonts-mplus has been installed in Ubuntu. Go to /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc, and ensure that mplus_*.gz files exist. These steps are courtesy of 'jbo 5512' in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=592731. 2. Open your console and type : 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config'. Chose: Autohinter, Automatic, Yes 3. Type 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig' in your console. 4. Type 'fc-cache -f -v' in your console. 5. restart x server You should see 'goth_p' font in your fonts list. I hope you will find this for you.
